PRACTICAL ASPECT IN PROFESSIONAL TRAINING BACHELORS (ARTISTS) OF DECORATIVE ART

Abstract

The article reveals the practical aspect of the future decorative artists training as a major component of the first (bachelor's) level of higher art education. It is emphasized that an important discipline in the system of the future decorative artists professional training is "Work with Materials", which provides an essential basis for the professional and practical competence development, as well as gaining professional experience in work with selected materials.

It is emphasized that the educational process of acquiring practical knowledge and skills of art students is due to the features of art specialization, which is determined by the material: "art textiles"; "art glass"; "art ceramics"; "art woodwork", etc.

It is stated that at the Department of Technological and Vocational Education and Decorative Arts of Khmelnytskyi National University "Work with Materials" discipline comprises 750 hours of study time (25 credits) during three years (5 semesters). In the eighth final semester students submit a practical qualification work within the undergraduate practice according to the chosen specialization.

Special attention is paid to the revealing of students’ creative potential in the process of individual work with the material, which enables the implementation of both general theoretic knowledge and improving technological skills and abilities to work with selected material. Important aspects are the ability to feel material, know its potential and work properly with the tools, etc.

In addition, the themes of educational works performed with the material are focused on national culture, the ethnic component of training, which is based on the achievements of traditional decorative and applied arts of the Ukrainian people and has a patriotic and educational function.

The article argues that in the art sphere only practical experience stimulates productive creative activity and helps to master the secrets of the future profession, encourages creative decisions in independent artistic and practical activities, promotes professional development.
