THE PHENOMENON OF DESIGN EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND THE SYSTEM OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF DESIGNERS

Abstract

The article deals with the essence and patterns of development of design education and its importance in the general system of education and culture, the trends of design and design education in Ukraine. The formation of market relations in society outlines the need for quality training of a significant number of professionals capable of ensuring the competitiveness of domestic products by improving its aesthetic qualities. The experience of developed countries shows that design as a key element of modern economic policy ensures its stability and competitive advantages in the global market space and determines special requirements for the system of professional training of designers, the development of their project culture. Given this, there is an urgent need to train design professionals capable of creative thinking, the realization of personal capabilities, able to design not only functionally useful, but also high quality, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing things.
The author believes that the identification of trends in the formation and development of the system of design education has not yet been the subject of a holistic, systematic and consistent study in the domestic pedagogical science; and in the field of domestic design education so far it can be identified as a system only with certain restrictions. The formulation of the problem of design training in different educational systems is a natural consequence of identifying positive global trends, scientific substantiation of the concept of development of design education and its content. The content of design education should include components that promote the development of personal skills of cognitive, prognostic, constructively transformative, search-heuristic, evaluation-selective, interactive and other activities. Access to these priorities provides opportunities to achieve the main goal: the formation of social maturity and education, sufficient to ensure the autonomy of the personality, its independence in various spheres of life.
